This 1947 Cadillac Series 62 is one of 6,755 convertible examples produced for the model year and was originally shipped to Birmingham, Alabama. After sitting for approximately three decades in a Detroit garage, the car was purchased by its prior owner in 2001, and a restoration was completed in 2011. The car has been refinished in Seine Blue over blue leather and is powered by a 346ci L-head V8 linked with a three-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tan convertible top, 15″ steel wheels with bright covers, power windows, and a push-button AM radio. This Series 62 was purchased by the selling dealer in 2012 and is now offered at no reserve with service records, spare parts, literature, and a clean Michigan title. The car left the factory finished in Seine Blue (11) and was repainted circa 2011. Exterior details include a replacement power-operated tan convertible top, a driver-side mirror, and a front antenna. The windows do not rise to meet the convertible top. The 15″ steel wheels feature bright covers and are mounted with 235/75 Dayton Thorobred Steel tires. Braking is provided by four-wheel drums that were adjusted in October 2024, and the brake fluid was changed at that time. The cabin houses bench seats that were reupholstered in blue leather by Hoyt’s Auto Upholstery in Sarasota, Florida, in 2010. The selling dealer reports that the clock has been rebuilt, and other appointments include two-tone tan door panels, blue door panel armrests, blue carpets, an AM radio, and power windows. The seller notes that a brake pedal bushing was replaced in 2024. The steering wheel features a bright semi-circular horn ring and fronts a 110-mph speedometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, fuel level, and oil pressure. The five-digit odometer shows 88k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. The 346ci L-head V8 is a replacement unit that is stamped with the serial number 3380330, and the selling dealer tells us that it was rebuilt as part of the restoration. Work in October 2024 included rebuilding the fuel pump and exchanging the coolant and oil. A photo of the car as it was discovered after 30 years of disuse is shown above.
